Brussels

Yes, yes yes. Even through the pregnancy we managed to travel. Largely due to Anusha's dogged stubbornness to use the Schengen Visa effectively. We managed to club three trips within a matter of 6 weeks (Five, if I include my two trips to India inbetween these trips).

Brussels (this post) and Bruges (next post) was the first trip, followed by Barcelona and then Crete.

Brussels wasn't the choicest of destinations to head to but we were desperate. Anusha had been wanting to travel and we had been waiting for her first trimester to be over and for her to get comfortable with the pregnancy. We had to book this trip on a very short notice and the only place we could find cheap enough for Brussels. We hadn't spent a lot of time in Brussels the last time and combining it with Bruges would definitely make it a worthwhile trip.

The city visit itself our typical, walk around till you drop kind of a visit. The town center is the main attraction in Brussels with not much else around, unless theme parks and standing in really long lines and overpriced food are your thing.

We had booked a nice hotel slightly out of the city but a short walk from the metro and very easy to get into town from. It was in a nice district of the city with very pleasant scenery and good walks closeby. Being 4 months pregnant wasn't stopping Anusha from walking around qute a bit.

Food wasn't a problem with pizzas, veggie burgers and waffles available everywhere. Just above this metro station, I found a little local store that stocked the most amazing samosas. I had one, then another two and then went back for more :).

The picture is of Anusha chatting up an old Belgian couple in French, providing directions to places she does not know in a language she no longer speaks :)
